How to use the Amazon FBA Fee Calculator
- Enter the price you sell at and pick the referral category your product belongs to in Seller Central.
- Choose FBA if Amazon stores and ships the item, or FBM if you ship it yourself (then add the shipping you charge).
- For FBA, choose the size tier and enter the shipping weight. Amazon uses the larger of the real weight and the dimensional weight (length × width × height ÷ 139) for most items; the dimensional weight calculator can work this out.
- Pick non-peak or holiday peak rates. From 15 October to 14 January Amazon charges higher peak fulfillment fees.
- Choose your selling plan and add product, shipping and storage costs to see the real profit and the lowest price that breaks even.
How it is calculated
Referral fee = category % × (item price + shipping), at least the category minimum ($0.30 for most) FBA fee = rate for your size tier, shipping weight and price band (under $10, $10–$50, over $50) Fuel surcharge = 3.5% × FBA fee (since 17 April 2026) Plan fee = $0.99 per item (Individual) or $39.99 ÷ units sold per month (Professional) Total fees = referral + closing fee (media only) + FBA fee + surcharge + plan fee Profit = price + shipping charged − total fees − your costs
Two things surprise most new FBA sellers. First, the price band: the same item costs less to fulfil when it sells for under $10, and since January 2026 it costs more when it sells for over $50. Second, holiday peak rates raise FBA fees by roughly 20–40 cents per unit from mid-October to mid-January, which matters most on cheap items.

Which size tier is my product?
Amazon sorts every item into a size tier using its packaged dimensions and weight. Small standard items fit within 15 × 12 × 0.75 inches and weigh up to 1 lb; large standard items fit within 18 × 14 × 8 inches and weigh up to 20 lb; small bulky and large bulky cover larger items up to 50 lb. Extra-large items have their own, much higher fees and are not included here. Seller Central shows the tier Amazon has assigned to each of your products, and you should always use that.
Costs this calculator leaves out
Monthly storage fees, aged inventory surcharges, inbound placement fees, returns processing, advertising and removal fees depend on how long stock sits and how you send it, so add an average per-unit amount under "Storage, prep & ads per unit". Amazon's own Revenue Calculator in Seller Central shows the exact fees for an existing listing.
