Poshmark, Mercari and Depop are the three biggest apps for reselling clothes and other second-hand items in the US, and all three have changed their fees in the last two years. Mercari moved to a flat 10% selling fee in January 2025, Depop dropped its selling fee in the US, UK and Australia, and Poshmark returned to its classic 20% structure.

This guide compares what each app takes in 2026, using their own help pages, and shows what you would actually receive at three typical prices.

The fees at a glance

AppWhat sellers pay (US)
Poshmark$2.95 on sales under $15, 20% from $15
Mercari10% of item price plus buyer-paid shipping
DepopNo selling fee; 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing; 12% Boosting fee on boosted sales

Poshmark's buyers pay for the shipping label, Mercari's sellers choose who pays, and on Depop you set your own shipping price.

What you receive at $12, $25 and $60

Here is what reaches your account for the item price alone (no shipping, no sales tax), using each app's 2026 fees:

Sale pricePoshmarkMercariDepopDepop (boosted)
$12$9.05$10.80$11.15$9.71
$25$20.00$22.50$23.73$20.73
$60$48.00$54.00$57.57$50.37

Depop keeps the most when the sale is not boosted, Mercari is second, and Poshmark takes the most at every price. But fees are only half the story: the best app is the one where your items actually sell.

Poshmark: highest fees, simplest selling

Poshmark's fee is simple: a flat $2.95 under $15 and 20% from $15. The buyer pays a flat-rate prepaid shipping label, so you never weigh a parcel or buy postage. Poshmark is strong for brand-name women's clothing, shoes and bags, and its sharing features reward sellers who are active every day.

The flat fee makes cheap items expensive: a $12 sale gives up 24.6% to fees. Bundling several cheap items into one order of $15 or more brings the fee back to 20%.

Mercari: 10% on almost everything

Mercari charges a flat 10% of the item price, plus any shipping the buyer pays. There is no separate payment processing fee for sellers, and direct deposit is free ($3 for Instant Pay). Mercari sells almost anything, from clothing to electronics, collectibles and home goods, which makes it a good general-purpose app.

Because the 10% also applies to buyer-paid shipping, a $30 item with $7 shipping pays $3.70. Offering free shipping drops the fee to $3 but the label then comes out of your earnings. See the Mercari fee calculator to compare.

Depop: no selling fee, but watch Boosting

Depop removed its 10% selling fee for sellers in the US, UK and Australia. Every sale still pays payment processing (3.3% + $0.45 in the US, charged on the item, shipping and sales tax), and sales from Boosted listings pay an extra 12% in the US and UK for listings created from 23 March 2026. Depop's audience is younger and fashion-led, so vintage, streetwear and unique pieces do especially well.

A boosted $60 sale pays $9.63 in fees, close to Mercari's $6, so Boosting suits items with good margins rather than everything you list. The Depop fee calculator shows the difference.

Which app should you use?

  • Brand-name women's fashion and accessories: Poshmark, despite the higher fee, because the buyers are there.
  • Mixed items, electronics, collectibles, home goods: Mercari.
  • Vintage, Y2K, streetwear and unique pieces: Depop.
  • Not sure: cross-list on two or three apps and mark items sold everywhere as soon as one sells.

The bottom line

Depop and Mercari let you keep more of each sale than Poshmark, but Poshmark's audience can make up for its fees on the right items. Price with the fees in mind, use the break-even price in each calculator as your lowest acceptable offer, and list where your buyers shop.

Fees in this guide were checked against Poshmark's, Mercari's and Depop's help centres in October 2026.
