Etsy fees explained
- Listing fee – a small fee for each listing (US$0.20 in the US), charged again when an item sells or the listing renews.
- Transaction fee – a percentage (6.5% at the time of writing) of the item price plus the shipping and gift-wrap you charge.
- Payment processing fee – a percentage plus a fixed amount per order, which depends on the country of your bank account.
- Offsite Ads fee – only when a sale comes from an Etsy ad on another website. It is optional for smaller shops and required for shops above Etsy’s sales threshold.
- Other charges – some countries add a regulatory operating fee, VAT on seller fees, or a currency conversion fee if your listing currency is different from your bank currency.

How to price for profit on Etsy
- Start from your total cost: materials, packaging, labour and your real shipping cost.
- Use the break-even price as your absolute minimum – below it every sale loses money.
