How to calculate a discount

Sale price = original price ร— (1 โˆ’ discount). A 25% discount on $80 is $80 ร— 0.75 = $60, so the customer saves $20.

Stacked discounts are not added together

A 20% discount followed by an extra 10% is not 30% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price: $100 โ†’ $80 โ†’ $72, which is 28% off in total. The calculator shows the true total discount.

Discounts and your profit

Before running a sale, check that the sale price is still above your break-even point in our profit margin calculator or platform fee calculators โ€“ a 20% discount can wipe out far more than 20% of your profit.
