How eBay fees work
- Final value fee โ a percentage of the total amount of the sale, including shipping. The rate depends on the category and whether you have an eBay Store.
- Per-order fee โ a small fixed fee on each order in many countries.
- Promoted listings โ if you use ads, the ad rate you choose is charged when a promoted item sells.
- International fee โ an extra percentage when the buyer is in another country.
- UK private sellers โ most categories currently have no final value fee for private (non-business) sellers in the UK.
In the US, eBay also calculates the final value fee on the sales tax collected, so your real fee can be slightly higher than the estimate. Always check eBayโs current fee page for your category.
Ways to lower your eBay fees
- Compare Store subscription fees with the lower final value rates they unlock if you sell regularly.
- Test lower promoted listing rates โ a small increase in visibility can cost less than you think.
- Price shipping accurately: eBay charges its percentage on shipping too.
